 Land of god or keralam in its native language .  An attraction to the travel worms, its gifted with lush green vegetation palying in the arms , the sunlit  clouds  drifiting across the oceany  sky ,the mountains adding the grandeur, the aromatic pepper, vanilla, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and turmeric , to keep the beutiful trip not only in your photo albums but even mind and nose whenever you recall the  spice garden vacay, the backwaters finding their way through the vegetation and finally completeing your dream of visiting a land of scintillating ,fascinating, beauty.!!!!!!!     Rains fix their date with kerala making it even more romantic.  Monsoon is the best time to visit Kerala.

Its Munnar a place gifted with mesmerizing beauty  which  has  confluence of  three rivers Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni, Kundala . Munnar gets its very name from  these three beautiful rivers  as  the word MUNNAR means three in Malyalam. 
Munnar  is  not only famous for  its  beauty but  for  its tea blanket  and  the spices adding smell to your lovely memories .Munnar was once a spot for Britisher's during summer season.
Infact Munnar was discoverd by one of the Englishmen called Jonh Daniel Munro . Alog with a tourist destination its has many more features too as you  should put your shoes and go trek .(guess why ???) The largest peak of South India the Anaimudi range has its roots here . Its  a big chance for trekkers to go on and have an  breathtaking view of the clouds finding their way from tall high mountains and the tea , spice palntations  having their eyes  on the mountains whose upper half  is covered with  the snow white clouds.

THE BEGINING OF PLANTATIONS

Munro had great interest in plantation .Of the several hills Munro chose the Kanan Devan hills as thought that Kana Devan hills had high potential for plantation crops 
 
Munro decided to meet the head of the Poonjar Royal Family(the ruling family of that time on munnar).
  Rohini Thirunal Kerala Varma Valiya Raja was the head of the royal family, who got impressed  with Munro's enterprenual abilities and decided to give the Kanan Devan hills on lease. Finally the 1,36,000 of land was leased to Munro on deposit fees  of 5000 and an annual rent of 3000 at 1877 
Munro formed a society to start the plantation.
                                                                                Members of the new formed had started trying their luck on the land they started the plantation of crops like tea,cardamom,sinchona , sisal of not knowing that in future this place would become world market for all these crops.                                                                         

                                                                                             Flocked by  travellers all over the world Munnar in 2019 welcomed 1189771 foreign tourists and 18384233 domestic tourists.
